Crews responded to six separate car crashes in under 40 minutes on Sunday, Jan. 28, according to the Lakeville Fire Department.
The first crash happened shortly after 11:45 a.m. after a pickup truck veered off the road near 72 Precinct St.
Firefighters started to receive calls for several crashes on both sides of Route 140, the department said.
Fire engines and ambulances "leapfrogged from scene to scene” to cover the additional emergencies despite having only four firefighters on duty.
Six people were treated at the scene, and one person was taken to a hospital, fire officials said.
“Lakeville Fire Department reminds our community to be extra careful during the current tricky driving conditions,” the department said on Facebook.
MassDOT warned travelers to be careful on the roads.
